Exploring the Yorkshire Dales and Settle.

Sunday dawned grey and cool so we set off for a walk along the Ribble River making the most of the dry ground. The track skirted the town and the old mills which have now been converted into attractive apartments. The grassy sections were still dry under foot so we walked among the sheep, climbed over stiles and walls and chatted with locals and their dogs,  getting advice about further walks.  In the afternoon we took the south side of the track before the rain came, but it arrived as we were about to return and we arrived back to the cottage very wet. Good evening for a roast dinner, bramley apple crumble and Bird's custard!
River walk with Settle in the distance.
Afternoon as the rain started!

Some views of Settle and a drier walk on the road.

This is our cottage on the left and house next door showing the date 1664. Sorry for the sideways view!

Falls on the Ribble with a salmon run on the left.
The sun came out for a minute to enhance the view of this pretty cottage.
