More walks and countryside views.

We visited a NT property a few kms away which is reached by a windy road over some undulating  hills and farmland with the usual array of contented cattle and sheep grazing in the fields. The property at Ilam , a former country mansion is now a youth hostel. There are lovely walks emanating from the site and the quaint village. We, with so many school kids doing  their D of E took to the various paths on tracks over the fields.
Ilam hall and the Ha Ha which many schools, kids were having fun on!
The village - houses with slate decorations.
On our walk.

Yesterday (18th June ) we walked along the Derwrnt River starting at Rowsley which is a 20 minute drive away. There is the Peak steam train en route in a quaint old station with many people (of a certain age!) starting their outing.
And today we took to the High Peaks trail which in this area is a former rail track.  Great walks all round!
This will probably be my last post from here as we leave for Settle in Yorkshire on Saturday. We are planning a few local walks  by tbe river and into Youlgreave. A few pics of our apartment and our  sitouterie !

We're on the top floor.
Nice place for relaxing in the afternoon.
