Galway July 1st.
We left Annestown along the south coast and headed inland to connect with the main roads towards Lismore. Lismore us a very attractive town with Lismore Castle, the summer home of the Dukes of Devonshire since the 18th century on a hilly woodland on the banks of the river. Our journey through thecrich Plains of Munster took in some prosperous market towns, all busy on a Saturday morn8ng. However, it was interesting to note that even in the prosperous towns the former small shops which would have provided all the necessary commerce for the neighbouring areas were closed and generally boarded up - victims of the shopping centres to be found on the outskirts!
We accessed the motorway south of Limerick which took us all the way to Galway and our apartment in Salthill. The automatic check-in was seamless, much to our relief and soon we were enjoying a culpa on the balcony overlooking the beach and bay.
